What a Valentine's weekend in Niagara Falls! A few weeks ago, Derek reached out to let me know that he and his girlfriend, Maddie, would be traveling from Texas to Niagara Falls over Valentine's Day weekend. He let me know that he planned to propose while here and wanted me to capture the moment!

We carefully crafted the perfect plan to ensure everything went smoothly. The proposal would take place at Oakes Garden Theatre, followed by a mini engagement session with a frozen Niagara Falls as the backdrop.

The Perfect Winter Proposal in Niagara Falls

The day of the proposal marked the beginning of a two-day snowstorm in Niagara. Fortunately, the snowfall wasn't too heavy and it added to the dreamy winter aesthetic of the moment.

I arrived early at Oakes Garden Theatre to get set up. Once everything was in place, I texted Derek to confirm the location. A few minutes later, I spotted him and Maddie walking toward the spot.

When they arrived to the spot, Derek got down on one knee. Maddie was completely taken by surprise, and without hesitation she said yes! I gave them a few moments to celebrate before introducing myself. Their joy was absolutely contagious—their smiles, their excitement, their love—it was all so beautiful to witness.

After the proposal, we took some photos around Oakes Garden Theatre. Then, we headed across the street to get some engagement shots with Niagara Falls' frozen beauty in the background. The entire experience was great. Derek and Maddie are such a kind, happy couple, and it was an honor to document such an important milestone in their love story.
