2010 Year in Review

Wow! 2010 was an amazing year! I had the opportunity to travel, I saw the space shuttle take off at night, I shot a bunch of weddings for some amazing people and I really grew a lot over the past year in both my personal life and in my photography skills.

I decided to do a blog post to review my year. There is a lot of pictures. I’ve includedΒ  1 or 2 from each wedding I shot (which was beyond difficult to narrow it down!). I’ve also included some model shoots and some personal pictures. I decided to skip the engagement and family pictures this time around, but I may post them later on!

Anyways, here is my 2010 in review!

Just after the new year my family and a few of my friends went to Naples, Florida.

The sunsets every evening were gorgeous!

After a month in Naples, we traveled up to Daytona! We stayed in a condo right on the beach, the wildlife was amazing!!

Then we took a little trip to Disney!

While in Daytona I found out that the space shuttle would be doing its final ever night Launch. I woke up at 4am, got my camera and tripod set up on the balcony and waited….. and waited….. and waited…. They canceled it the first time around because of the weather!

I woke up the next night at 4am again, I was 60 miles away and suddenly the sky turned from black to complete orange. It took about 45 seconds for the sound to reach me, by then the space shuttle was streaking through the sky!

I came home March 1st and my friend Ashley asked if I could do some fitness pictures for her. She got heavy into fitness and is in ridiculous shape. If you know her, then that’s no big surprise! I don’t think I have ever met anyone more determined and driven in my life.

A couple of days later I was asked to take dog sledding pictures! I even got to ride the sleds and hook my 2 Siberian Huskies up to the sled and watch them go. It was amazing!!

Literally 2 weeks later spring was here. It got warm so quickly! I went on a hike and saw these guys watching us.

In May, 2 of my friends got married. I was thrilled to shoot their wedding, and to start 2010 off doing a friends wedding pictures! Amber was such a gorgeous bride.

A couple of weeks later I shot Amanda’s wedding. Quite possibly the nicest girl you will ever meet!

I then had a shoot with the amazing Priya! I made her go into the dirtiest, most run down train you will ever see. But sometimes it’s worth getting dirty!

One of my best friends sister got married in July. Once again I was thrilled they chose me to shoot their wedding! They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They’ll even drive you 40 minutes home when you forget your keys in your car after a consultation at their apartment! oooops πŸ™‚

The next day I shot Shannon and Gord’s wedding at the beautiful White Oaks Resort and Spa in St Catharines. What a dress!

I then went to Beamsville a week later and shot Laura and Brandon’s wedding. Brandon loves golf, my 2nd shooter had golf clubs in his trunk, we were driving beside a golf course. How could we not do this shot?!?

I then had a model shoot with the stunning Ashley! We shot at the Niagara Fallsview Casino and a seedy looking hotel next to it.

Next was Laura and Mark’s wedding. High school sweet hearts who I’ve known since I was 14.

Then in August I shot Paige and Danny. It felt like I was shooting 2 models dressed for a wedding!

The next day, in the sweltering heat πŸ˜‰ I shot Candice and Brian’s wedding at the beautiful Legends Estate Winery. Such a gorgeous venue and an amazingly helpful staff!

Kim and Dave’s wedding was next. We went to the Botanical Gardens before going to the beautiful Stratus Winery in Niagara on the Lake!

A couple of weeks later I traveled up to Aurora, Ontario to shoot the wedding of 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet!

I then had another model shoot with the gorgeous Brittney!

The next wedding I shot was at Balls Falls! Mandy and Matt.

Then it was on to my friends Shawn and Shawna’s wedding. We did their pictures at the Botanical Gardens in Niagara Falls. Love that place!!

Next was Julie and Jack’s wedding at Hernder Estates Winery!

I then shot Jamie and Claire’s wedding at Niagara College. Jamie and I share a love for chicken and bad football teams!

I then got to second shoot a wedding with Charity Swords. We went to Hanover and shot an amazing couple with an equally awesome wedding party!

I then did a portrait shoot for my friend Dom. It quickly turned from “business portraits” to a full out fashion shoot!

I 2nd shot another wedding with Charity, this time in Port Colborne. The awesome Jenn and Pat!

I then had Stefanie and Jeff’s wedding in Welland with such an amazing vintage car!

Then the bittersweet feeling of shooting my last wedding of the year. Taylor and Scott got married at Queens Landing in Niagara on the Lake (same place my sister got married 10 years earlier). I seriously got lucky and had the best couple to end the wedding season with!

I had another model shoot, this time with “the boss”! Charity πŸ˜‰

Finally, the year is ending with a bang. Here are my two Huskies playing in the first snow storm of the year!

And that’s it! There is 2010 all wrapped up into a single blog post. I can’t wait for 2011. It’s shaping up to be a great year and it can’t arrive soon enough πŸ™‚
